Things are looking up

Jeff has an interview at Target. Yay for us! And it sounds like they really want him for the job so we're keeping our fingers crossed. It's only about 12 hours a week but right now we figured that if we have that and we both donate plasma twice a week we can cover our rent money. Plus we're just happy to have a foot in the job market door.

Welcome to the blog

Jeff and I will have been married for a year come this Saturday and we still need to send out the thank you notes from our wedding. Sad, I know. But isn’t a late thank you better then no thank you at all? I so hope there aren’t people who are horribly offended.

Anyway, being newly married in your early twenties isn’t easy. (It doesn’t help that we moved two states away to a college town that cycles people in and out on a strange 3 track system) I miss my friends, family, and my dog Hank but at lest Jeff and I aren’t the cause of each others stress. I feel quite lucky (And so does Jeff) to have this kind of relationship at this point in our lives. I also feel quite lucky to be able to attend BYU-I which has affordable tuition, cheaper living costs, a more support for students in hard economic situations.

Finding a job in our town isn’t easy. We’ve both been looking for work since January but nothing has worked out for us yet. However, we’ve been blessed with odd jobs, help from our families, and friends who are on the look out for us.

Recently Jeff received a commission for one of his paintings and he has been very happy about it. He says that is what he really wants to do with his art and I’m happy that he can get an early taste of it. We will be setting up a separate blog soon so that we can show his lovely paintings to our friends and hopefully entice more interest in his work. He’s off track right now and looking for work.

I’m still working at school and I need to get on the ball with my application to the social work program. One more semester and I’ll have all of my general ed classes done and I can focus on my major. I loved my Introduction to Social Work and Sociology classes and I feel even more confident that I’m going into something that I’ll love. Though, I’ve been thinking that maybe my first idea of working for Child Protective Services needs a back up plan. I’ve always thought that I’d work for CPS but my teacher warned me that many who do have a short lived career there and move on to different areas of social work. So at this point who knows.

All in all we’re both working towards our future and are living comfortably at the moment.
